Hi,
I own a Speedtouch 585 v6 with firmware 6.1.4.3. I cannot use the DMT Tool since I am not a Windows user. However I am able to use the CLI through telnet. I was wondering what the commands to change the target SNR were ? Any help will be greatly appreciated ;)

Having looked through that, it doesn't seem to cover your specific question. I believe that the ST585 accepts the normal Broadcom commands, so you can tweak it in the same way as other Broadcom-based routers: http://www.kitz.co.uk/routers/dg834GT_targetsnr.htm (ignore the part about debug enabling).

Thanks, I saw this page, but it does not cover the target SNR setting. Or did I miss something ?

Sorry, I was editing my post as you posted yours. :)
By the way, it is possible to run DMT in Linux using Wine, but I think it only works if you run it as root. Alternatively, Routerstats works perfectly with Wine.

I am not so sure, because I cannot find the adslctl commnd in the command list of the speedtouch. I'll try to experiment.
However, I suppose DMT Tool sends telnet commands through the GUI ? Is the source code available for it ?

Now you can use this command
adsl config modemoption=10000000000000000000000000000000
saveall
(Note no colons)
Then connect the speedtouch to the line and see how it goes.
You need to experiment with the values. I have found my line the values given in the adslguide article were rather different to that. But it gives you a starting point.
value* - margin
08 - 10db
10 - 10.5db
18 - 11db
20 - 11.5db
28 - 12db
30 - 12.5db
38 - 13db
40 - 13.5db
48 - 14db
50 - 14.5db
58 - 15db
60 - 15.5db
68 - 16db
70 - 16.5db
78 - 17db
80 - 17.5db
Still if you cannot get any value to work less than 15db then you have to get BT on the job.

I used to use a Speedtouch router some time ago, and vaguely recall the modemoption command, but I don't remember the details. I remember now that the Speedtouch CLI is a custom command line environment, not the usual BusyBox Linux environment which you get with other Broadcom based routers.

No problem :) You are right, it does not use Busybox. I'll try this tonight. I also have a DG834GT, which I'll flash with DGTeam firmware to compare. As far as I remember, this one had a problem to maintain its SNR level in the evening and at night.
