All you need to know is here: http://www.jjclements.co.uk/index.php/2007/09/30/sky-router-dg834gt-unlock/

It doesn't seem to be officially available any more. The link (http://kbserver.netgear.com/release_notes/d102417.asp) which used to find it now redirects you to the DG834 recovery utility. Maybe someone here has a copy they would share.

Hi roseway
Yeah I tried the link in your post and couldn't see any mention of the DG834GT :'(
If some kind person could please let me have a copy of the recovery utility for the DG834GT I be extremely grateful :)
Many Thanks

I think that recovery utility is the one you need even though the DG834GT isn't mentioned. I have had a look at a disc supplied with the Sky DG834GT and the Upgrade Wizard file properties appear identical to those on the Netgear site.

Hi and thanks for your info
Just when I read roseways post re the dg834gt model seemed to have been removed from the netgear link it made me think twice - I really don't wanna brick the router by using the wrong utility, so do you think it will be OK to use this utility on my dg834gt???

Thanks

I've just run an MD5 checksum and the hash for Upgrade Wizard utility from your Netgear download link is identical to the hash for the Upgrade Wizard found on the DG834GT Sky disc. So yes, despite the site not mentioning the DG834GT, that's the utility you need. :)

This is what I did: http://www.kitz.co.uk/routers/skyDG834GT_flash.htm !!!

Thanks guys, I certainly feel more confident about using the upgrade procedure & recovery utility after I read your replies :)
Excellent advice 5*****

I used it on the GT but I must admit that made me think for a few minutes the first time I did it.
If you are Canine why do you have a Cat avatar? :)

Yeah you often read where people have bricked em by using the wrong utility or firmware so I wanted to make sure - didn't really want to end up with a door stop :-[
I like cats

If at all possible try and do the flashing with an XP machine, and don't attempt it via wireless - only hard wired.

I bricked my DG834N, intermittent red/green flashing red LED's so the utility was a last resort for me. There isn't one specifically for the DG834N so I used the DG834/G one. I couldn't download from the Netgear site for some reason that evening and I only had an old copy on disc.
Thankfully it worked after carefully following the instructions. I was very relieved as this is probably the best router I have ever had...and I have had a few! ;D

To add, orainsear's advice about XP is sound and I would also advise that you disconnect the telephone line during the flash to prevent interuptions.
