Title: Curious DVD-rom drive activity

TD is baffled,..........not for the first time, I hear you cry.

This is not a problem....just a curious thing.

I have a screensaver enabled to come on after twenty minutes of PC inactivity........not a downloaded, fancy one...just one of the ones built into XP.

I have noticed that when that screensaver kicks in......the light on my internal DVD-rom drive flickers... ???

The dvd drive works perfectly otherwise, ( and there is no disc stuck in the drive )....but on screensaver...light flickers.....off screensaver...light stops.

Would any kind soul have an idea why this should be. ?  :)

Pure guesswork on my part, but maybe the DVD is one of the things which the screensaver periodically checks, and if it detects activity there it comes out of screensaver mode.

Thank you, roseway,............could be something like that.

I only noticed this yesterday, and have no idea at all if it is something new or long lived.

Nothing to worry about.. :)
