I want to return to using Outlook Express as I am having som problems with Thunderbird, can some one remind me how to import my Thunderbird address books to OE please?

This is a perennial pain with Thunderbird and one of the reasons that I do not use anything by Mozilla, as they do not tell you prior to installing TBird that moving an address book back to Outlook Express is a hit or miss affair.
Outlook Express holds the address book as a .wab file which TBird will recognize and import happily.....but TBird holds its address book as a .cvs or a .ldif file, which Outlook Express is not so happy about.
First thing to try is in Outlook Express go file>import>other address book (note the "other").......hopefully you will find in that dialogue when it opens a reference to either .cvs or .ldif and by clicking on that you may get the addresses.
Failing that, you may have to go into Tbird and file>export the address book to a preselected folder you have created and then use a .cvs to .wab converter such as http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/1949 then use the Outlook Express file>import function.
I have never used such a converter, and have no idea if the prog. associated with the above link is clean or effective, but there are dozens of such progs listed on a google search so which to use may be a lottery.

You will notice from roseway's link that Tbird is happy to export messages, but there is nothing in that link about exporting address books. :(

Ah yes, sorry, I was thinking about exporting messages, not address books. :-[

Thanks everyone for for the input, the only reason I want to change is because I have found that attachments such as word doc, Power point files and sometime Windows media player will not open correctly from the email, If I save them they open fine.
Otherwise I like Thunderbird

I actually deliberately save my OE address book backup as a CSV so that its in a universally accepted by different mail clients should I wish to use another one.
After formatting, or a new install Ive found it easy to import the CSV back in to OE.

I dont use TB... but I should imagine it will have a setting to save its address book as a CSV

Yes it does, it's available from the 'Address Book' dialog.

Where would I find Address Book Dialogue please Roseway?

I use the Linux version, but I assume that the Windows version is very similar. There's an icon on the main toolbar, labelled 'Address Book'. Click on that and I get the dialog. Export is under the Tools menu in the dialog.

Sorry, there must be some differences then. I expect that my version (2.0.0.19) is older than yours. The Address Book dialog is also accessible from the main Tools menu on mine.
