Title: Firefox 3.5
Post by: jazz on July 01, 2009, 04:49:32 PM
I upgraded my browser from Firefox 3.0 to Firefox 3.5 yesterday.  My first impression of it is that it is very nippy and there are a lot of new tools and bits to learn.  It maintains Firefox as my favourite browser though I do also use Opera sometimes and I know that Opera 10.0 is due for release in the not too distant future.  :)

I've been looking at what the upgrade contains and note that this new version has the Private Browsing facility which IE8 has introduced.  I've  Installed IE8 recently without any apparent problems, and will now do the same with FF, and hope that all my add ons are compatible.    Thanks for the reminder,  the release date was yesterday.    :)

Been running it now for just over a day with no problems. Only problem I had was that my Mouse Gestures was not supported so I've installed a beta version but that seems fine. Does indeed seem a tad faster, some of the defaults in 3.5 are not to my liking so I changed them and you can add back the progress indicator back into the toolbar from the customise option - its not there by default. Skype is the only ad on that I want but still is not supported yet.

Must admit I still have IE6 which is only there for emergencies when FF wont display a site. I never use IE of any flavour if I can possibly avoid it.

I'm using the Linux version, and it does seem a little more nippy than 3.0.x. I did have to edit one addon to make it work with 3.5, but apart from that there don't seem to be any problems.

Bit of a sidenote regarding firefox, but didn't want to start a new topic.

Just wondering, every so often on certain websites the little Lock in the right hand corner of the page has a red line through it, like a warning symbol.

What does this mean?  Should i be worried?

Cheers :D
