Title: Slow PC Shut-Down or Re-Boot Identified.
Post by: oldfogy on April 26, 2009, 05:13:42 PM
For the last few weeks quite often I have suffered from what seems a very long time for Windows to either Shut-down or Re-boot.

Whilst this has not been a great problem on my main PC as I have got used to it and know it will close or re-boot "eventually" so I have ignored the problem.
However when using my Laptop, it becomes a pain because of having to wait before being able to close the lid etc.

However it's always a pain if all I need to do is re-boot for a particular reason.

(Previous text removed as not the cause of the problem)

Update:

Since posting the above I also had some advice from Jack Hacket (Sim) on CA forum.

......... There are times when a clear out of your user hive can help with slow shut downs -

Give it another go

Update:

That certainly "IS" a lot better, I've tried both re-start's and shut-down's a few time now and it closes almost instantly.
Thanks.

Thanks for posting that OF.   I had a problem like that on my old PC which I could never get to the bottom of.

Bookmarked for future reference in case of need.

I think it's well worth installing even if you don't seem to have the problem at the moment.
