Title: Edimax AR-7064g+ in Windows Vista
Post by: kam007 on May 05, 2007, 08:50:11 PM
Hello people,

I have come to install the above modem/router on a Vista machince and found that it will not connect to the ISP. I have emailed Edimax who sent me a firmware upgrade which has not made any difference.

I know that the settings for connecting to Orange Broadband work as when I plug in the Speedtouch 330 modem I get connected straight away.

Does anybody have any other ideas?

Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andrw and welcome. :)

The edimax is a router so therefore afaik should require any software for installation.  When I install a router I much prefer to make a manual connection  rather than using the installation software

You should be able to configure everything you need via the web interface.
To do this type 'http://192.168.16.1' into your browser. Default user name and passy are 'admin'.

Theres a guide to setting up a manual connection on the main site
http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/router.htm
All the settings you need are on there - you will just need your Orange username and passy.

If you get stuck, let us know and we should be able to help.

Thanks for that Kitz,

This is the strange thing, I've got the router to set up as per the instructions but can't find any ref to the Security Protpcol: CHAP. Any ideas?   :(

Thanks

Andrew

Maybe it auto senses in the edimax setup?

Just make sure that
VPI = 0
VCI = 38
Type PPPoA VCMux

You can also download a guide to manual config for the edimax from http://www.edimax.com/images/Image/manual/Wireless/AR-7064gPlus/AR-7064gPlus_M.zip
section 3.3.1 shows some images of the manual setup if they help.
