Title: Installing Linux on Fujitsu Laptop

Hi there. Need some help on installing Linux on my laptop. I'm not dead techno on computers but I'm ok. The problems is I have an external floppy which boots up but I have a CD drive which is external via pcmia card which doesn't boot up. The laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook B175 quite old but small enough for me to take to work when I'm bored. The hard drive has no operating system at all on it. Any help would be much appreciated Thanks

Hi and welcome

I've no personal experience of doing this, but there are some distros which offer floppy installation as an option. Debian is one, and there are some instructions here. (http://www.debian.org/distrib/netinst) You will need to have a working internet connection to which you can connect the laptop.

Does the laptop have working USB?    I've never tried to do so, but I think some linux distros include instructions on how to make bootable USB installation, see for example:
