According to PC Advisor IE8 is now available to download from the IE website.

Edit,Do you/will you have to download from the IE site or will it come with M/S auto updates ?

It was apparently released at 4pm this afternoon so no worries if it didn't appear on MS update :)

Been trying IE8 all day now, its not looking bad. Definitely an improvement on the mockery that was RC1 :)

I think I might wait until the complaints start coming in :P

very wise ;D

Installed yesterday and unistalled about 8 hours later.
I play Yahoo games and the tables would not load, something to do with popup blocker that was off.
I gave up trying to fix it and now back on IE6.

I only recently took the plunge and updated to IE7, but then again I almost exclusively use Firefox.

Updated to IE8 and found that I can't read any of the text on the toolbar - contrast is poor. Good job I changed to Firefox a long time ago - no problems and plenty of addons/customisation to choose from. MS won't consider "Themes" for IE and so I can't improve my viewing - their loss (again).

Camallison have you tried enabling crearview or cleartype (can't remember what its called) :)

Thanks for the tip, but YES it is enabled. The problem is more of a "corrupted" background (black) rather than the normal grey. This is only on my laptop (running XP Pro SP3) - it runs OK on my desktop machine (also running XP Pro SP3). I can also see a little of the desktop backgound through some of the toolbar area!
Just started IE8 again so that I could show you a screenshot .............. and the problem has gone away! :-\
Solved, but I don't have the foggiest why!
