Title: Anyone got the DMT tool?
Post by: darxide on March 30, 2007, 03:47:39 PM
Hello,
Does anyone have a copy of the DMT tool they could send to me?
The http://dmt.mhilfe.de/ site doesnt seem to work here atm and I couldnt find any mirrors for it.

Cheers

Hi darxide, welcome to the forum.

There are different versions of DMT for different ranges of router. What router do you have?

I don't know if that's supported by DMT. It uses a Broadcom chipset, so it might be supported by version 8.x, which I'm afraid I don't have, and I haven't found any helpful references unfortunately.

Hi darxide.
I tried the DMT site and it did not work for me, maybe there servers gone down or doing an upgrade on it try it in a couple of days time.

It may be a good idea if you remove you email address or put it in the form   darxide000(at)gmail(dot)com    then you should not get spamed  by a 'spam bot'.

I use the DMT tool on my speedtouch router.   :)
Michael.

There's an alternative site for DMT at http://www.2cent.de/

(Thanks to nredwood on ThinkBroadband for this info)

Both sites works fine for me. Version 8.05 specifically supports the USR 9108 router, so you're in luck there.

I was going to attach it to this forum post but kitz has set the max attachment size to 192k and I didn't want to change it without asking her. Direct link is here (http://www.2cent.de/dmt/v8/dmt.zip). Does this work?

Yes, the link works. And as you say, the main DMT site is up and running again.

Been away for a couple of days so only just seen this..
I have a copy of v8 on another machine if the DMT site starts playing up again I can temp host.

Theres also a tutorial for v8 of the DMT tool for use with the
US Robotics 9107/9108, Netgear DG834GT/DG834NB/DG834PNB, BT Voyager 2091/2100/2110, and a couple of other routers here.

Does V8 work with all Voyager routers? I tried V8 with the BT Home Hub (which is a Thomson product) and it didn't work, is there a version which works with it at all?

iirc there was a version of DMT which worked with the HH..

BUT... if your router did an auto update to the latest version of the HH firmware then DMT wont work anymore with it.

I recall reading something a while back on how if your HH does have the latest firware version, how to roll back and get DMT working again.  Cant remember where it was now, but I know Ive posted about it elsewhere - I'll have a quick google and get back to you.

It seems that BT are rolling out the update to the new firmware 6.2.2.6. This seems like a bad idea for anyone interested in playing about with the hub. A useful comment from Kai earlier suggested a way of disabling the updates (see here) and I added my advice. My advice is to change the update URL so that your router never contacts BT. This is done by logging in through telnet and issuing the following command:

cwmp server config url=http://www.randomsite.com

Of course, randomsite.com can be any domain name (google, yahoo etc) but your router will try and go there for updates (so be careful of using another ISP!).

Okay guys - my Home Hub autoupdated to 6.2.2.6 all by itself, and i was almightily annoyed that i could no longer use DMT, so here’s now i managed to go back to 6.1.1R

PS since the HH is supposedly based on the Speedtouch 716G then look at v8

I don't know what's happening, but the alternative DMT site now shows a background and nothing else, but http://www.2cent.de/dmt/ still works (at the moment).
