Hello all,
Has anyone tried running the speed test on BBmax over the weekend of 24/25 February. At a sync rate of ~2800kbps I usually see download speeds of ~2440kbps, but over this weekend have only got <1000kbps. I also tried the test at Speedtest.net, using the London server, and that produced very similar results. Does anyone have any ideas about this or should I assume that it's those b*st*rds at Talktalk fannying around again ? (Long story)

Hi toulouse,
Well, I don't use TalkTalk so I can't compare with you, but my results at speedtest.net are normal (in fact about 300 kbps higher with the Dublin server which is shown as recommended although further away).

Thanks Eric,
Interestingly enough I had a call from one of their phone engineers earlier today (about a line fault that has been outstanding since last October, would you believe), who asked me to unplug everything so that he could perform a test on the line. He then came back and said that the line appeared clear, but eventually agreed to escalate the fault so that I may get a visit from their engineer or maybe one of BT's.
A bit strange, though don't you think ?
I'll try the Dublin server, although the London one is closer to where I live. I tried the Paris server earlier today and that produced something in the region of ~2400 which is what I normally see when synched at 28xxkbps, as I am today.

Did a couple of speedtests yesterday on BBMax there were normal (appx 6Mbish)
Just done a couple of tests again here and everything seems ok
BBMax speedtest - 5974 kbps
Speedtest.net - London 6044 kbps
Speedtest.net - Dublin 5635 kbps
BBMax speedtest - 2nd test - 5952 kbps
BT Performance tester
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5917 kbps

Thanks for that, Kitz. I did try the Paris server, after the Dublin one. Paris gave ~24xxkbps, Dublin gave 500 - 600kbps.
What a bummer. It must be the circus performers at Talktalk playing around I guess.
Thanks anyway,
Mick
