Title: How to Disable a laptop touchpad mouse
Post by: redders0106 on November 19, 2008, 07:30:51 PM
Hi there guys

I need help disabling my touchpad on my parkard bell easynote "i no it was a cheap deal" as i have fat hands and when typing it will click else where. I have tried the mouse options in control panel and i am able to disable the usb mouse "  Named ps/2 for some reason ?" When i try the same process on the touchpad options "named HID ...", the option to enable and disable the mouse is not there. I was thinking of just uninstalling the the driver but i wanted to see if you guys had any better ideas first.

Thanks Gregg

If there is a Fcn (Function) key on the keypad, then you may also have the keypad symbol on one of the F keys also, although you will need to do it each time the PC is turned on, simply hold the Fcn button and press the corresponding F key to disable the keypad.

Other than that, if you set the sensitivity to very low then that should also stop the accidental keypad strokes.

Disable it in device manager or remove the drivers.

IIRC on my lappy its Fn + F7.

Different laptops may use different function keys though..  such as F9 or F5

a lot of the easynote range do not have a Fn + key combo to disable the touchpad.

best bet would be to r/click it in device manager and select disable, as HPsauce says.

Just happened to be working on a Tosh earlier today, it was Fn and F8 or thereabouts (maybe F7 or F9) - nice little icon on the key.

If you uninstall the driver, the pad will probably still work as a basic mouse, so that won't help.

Best bet is to look for the Fn + F key combination. Failing that, in Device Manager, disable the device as suggested. Before you do, if you're not familiar with using Windows without a mouse, make sure you have a USB mouse to plug in instead, so you can actually re-enable it!!!

Thanks guys for the suggestions and i will look for the fn + something combination, many of you did say go into the device manger via my computer and disable the device that way, unfortantly for me that option is not there or rather its there but grayed out if u get me.

Thanks again
