Title: Error message
Post by: tonyappuk on November 01, 2008, 01:43:30 PM
After clicking "unread posts since last visit" and reading a few postings I came to one called "What's the point" in Chit Chat and tried to read it. Back came an error screen with "An error has occurred" and something about being off limits or the posting being unavailable. I tried it several times as you do, thinking it was finger trouble or whatever, but each time got the same error message. The message was timed at 11.?? a.m. today. I then tried "all unread posts" but not there nor in "Chit Chat". I don't think it was a brainstorm and perhaps I just tried to access it during an edit but I'm pretty sure I saw 2 responses listed although for the life of me I can't remember who posted it!
Is it possible that the thread was inappropriate in some way and was pulled by the Forum Moderators? Usually the site is very good and I would have expected some explanation if that was the case. Or is there some other reason, my insanity perhaps!? Did anyone else see it?
Tony

I think the post you are refering too was one posted by Tufted Duck, who changed his mind and decided to remove it,he was unable to at the time as someone else was replying to it.After that post he was able to remove it......confused,so am I  :D

The OP was trying to delete it, so I'm guessing it must have been deleted at a time between when it appeared on your list of unread posts and the when you tried to view it!!

Thanks for flagging up the error though, I'm quite glad there's an explanation for this one though :)

*edit* UB beat me to it ;)

I'm guilty.....

I made a post, then decided I wished to remove it but could not as by then a reply had been posted.
I therefore modified my post to the effect as above...............and the post title along with the reply has been reset by the mods. with the original post by me deleted.

I'm the guilty one. I split Floydy's reply out as a separate topic because I thought it was interesting, and deleted the rest in accordance with TD's wishes. :)

After I'd posted my query I spotted the message from Roseway and thought that was probably connected. Thanks all for the explanation. My sanity is saved for another day!
