Title: Links from OE6 problem
Post by: oldfogy on December 24, 2006, 02:57:17 PM
Until now I have never had a problem with this Laptop, Samsung P28, with XP Pro.

If I click a link from my favourites, everything logs on properly to IE7.

However, Java has just automatically updated itself and since then if I try and click on a link from OE6 I get the following error message.

AppName: iexplore.exe    AppVer: 7.0.5730.11    ModName: skypei~1.dll
ModVer: 2.2.0.65    Offset: 000274b0

Now this happened earlier to day so I re-Ghosted back to get rid of the update and everything was okay.
I have let it update again and the problem comes back, so it does seem to be a Java update problem.

So, other than not updating Java has anyone any suggestions.
Please.

I notice on the error report it shows "Skypei~1.dll" which is installed and working properly.

OF - did you remove the earlier version of Java?

I seem to recollect John McKenna advising to remove earlier versions when updating. Worth a try.

Thanks Dave, will try that.

Clicking the link "as I just did" from Mailwasher works okay.

Just seems to be OE6 problem.

Well have now removed "all 4 versions" of Java J2SE runtime, but the problem is still with me, but as we know when programs are installed they can interact with others also.

So it's back to a an earlier date and will then remove the update for Java and see how that goes.

Just to update with regards to the above problem:
However, since removing IE7 and reverting back to IE6 the problem never re-occurred.
So my guess is it was "another" of IE7 incompatibility's.
