Title: Netgear DG834G v4 and DMT
Post by: Oldjim on September 30, 2008, 10:32:44 AM
First post - can someone help
I have just changed from a Speedtouch 585 v6 (firmware 6.1.4.3) to a Netgear DG834G v4 (firmware 5.01.01) and I am having problems with DMT v8.07
After a short time it loses the connection to the router and I get this error. Is there a timeout built into it somewhere
Just to add for interest - using Routerstats to modify the default noise margin it seems to happen seamlessly unlike the Speedtouch where it required a resynch with the exchange

Hi and welcome.

In order to use DMT with a Netgear router I believe that you have to set it into debug mode first. Perhaps there's some time limit on this? I'm not in a position to check this at the moment, but I expect someone else will be along shortly.

Thanks for the welcome.
Further monitoring shows that for some reason it loses the connection then gets it back again as this screen print shows. The SNR fluctuation shows the drops. At the same time Routerstats shows a continuous connection.
I wonder if the Routerstats telnet is interfering with the DMT telnet

I dont have a Netgear DG834G v4, but you may well be on to something with "I wonder if the Routerstats telnet is interfering with the DMT telnet"  as there are some routers which dont allow more than 1 telnet session at any one time.
