Can anyone tell me if you need special coaxial cable for sattelite dishes or can use use the ordinary stuff?

Shaft,
You should really use proper satalite cable.
FT100 is readily available and not too expensive.

The cable Dave pointed out is by far the best option.

However, ordinary 75ohm coaxial cable will work but you may get a lot of interference, so it's not worth using.
