Hi
I seem to have deleted / mislaid my copy of Firmware v 6.1.4.3 for the 585v6 and despite Googling I can't find a live link to it (there is only a dedicated Be version on the Thomson site). Does anyone know where it may be lurking please??

It seems to be exceedingly hard to get hold of. :no:
I do have a copy which was kindly sent to me by tarka (http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=925), which as yet I havent had chance to do anything with.
If I host it permanently the file size would soon kill my bandwidth and cost a fortune to host, as it would be requested worldwide. :(
If you still havent managed to locate it from elsewhere, until I find time to arrange to find a more bandwidth efficient way of hosting the file.... if you PM me and I will arrange to send you a copy.

I tried to download as suggested but got an error The requested URL /kitz/585-Firmware-6.1.4.3v6.bin was not found on this server
The reason for asking is that the only versions I could find are named ST585v6 6.1.4.3 BeLite.bin and ST585v6 6.1.4.3 BeWholesale.bin. They would appear to be firmware versions for Be ISP which I downloaded from Thomson's web site.
I updated the firmware trying first one and then the other. In both cases I connected DMT and followed the steps outlined here http://www.kitz.co.uk/routers/DMTv7.htm.
But the special options checkbox unlock experimental area Panel/Last Tab remains greyed out, on both versions of the firmware.
Has anyone succeeded with tweaking using DMT + 6.1.4.3? If so, with which version of DMT, and what was the source of the firmware?

hmm it seems like its not there anymore for some reason. I'll temp host it on my server and PM you the details in a mo.
It looks like the versions you are using are Be specific therefore not recommended if you are with another ISP
6.1.4.3 is the last version that DMT tweak will work with.. and yes many people have 'downgraded' back to 6.1.4.3 to get DMT to work.

To my dismay, I did notice that when I tried to use it with DMT, the checkbox unlock experimental area Panel/Last Tab still remained greyed out.
Accidentally, I found the cause and the solution.
The Cause: I had previously downloaded and used DMT with a later version of the firmware (post 6.1.4.3). Of course, the unlock experimental area Panel/Last Tab was greyed out as Thomson had locked out the feature. But when I downgraded to version 6.1.4.3 the option was still greyed out. It seems that because I had used DMT with a later version of the firmware, then this later version gets remembered somewhere in DMTv7.35.ini - I'm not certain where exactly.
The Solution: I happened to be testing the ST585 on another computer where I had not run DMT before. When I downloaded a fresh copy of DMT and ran it for the first time, it created a new DMTv7.35.ini. Lo and behold, this did now work and unlocked the unlock experimental area Panel/Last Tab.
So I would advise anyone trying to downgrade their router to v6.1.4.3 to first delete or rename their DMTv7.35.ini file before experimenting with the firmware.

I would also be very gratefull if someone could send me the link for this firmware as it might solve some of the problems i have.
Im currently using version 6.1.0.5 with DMT but i get a lot of random reboots and loss of wireless signals

Hi,
I would also be very grateful if someone could send me the link for this firmware. It is, for some reason, very difficult to find and I believe it is reasonably stable whilst still allowing DMT use.
I had to downgrade the Hub to 6.1.1M then R from the latest firmware as BT, for some reason kept upping my SNR. I had a stable line at 6-7 SNR and synced at around 3mb but, after 36 days of constant synch, and no problems for a year or so, the Hub re-synched and the SNR went up to 9. I lost some speed but I wasn't too bothered - I still had 2.5mb - enough for my purposes. I read here that after 14days or so, the system would reduce my SNR by 3 again, so I waited 16 days and re-synched only to find that my SNR had now gone up to 12 and I couldn't synch any higher than 1.5mb. Then, last week after a power cut, the hub re-synched again and my SNR is now 15 and an IP profile of 750kbps.
I have, as I said, downgraded the hub and used DMT to obtain a SNR of 10 and a synch of 1866kpbs but I'm not sure as to the stability of 6.1.1R. People on here say the requested firmware is the better so I would be grateful is someone would be kind enough to help a new poster.
If anyone also has any ideas why the SNR didn't fall as expected but rose after no synch problems for 36 days I would be interested to hear them.

This is a little curious. I already have this version from a previous recent download. Each time I come to update the hub the update wizard informs me that it is not compatible.
Any thoughts as to what I am missing. I'm currently using 6.1.1.R but I cannot get it to update with this BIN. Any assistance appreciated.

6.1.4.3 is compatible with speedtouch 58x routers. You won't be able to install it on a BT homehub if that's what you are using.

On the odd occasion I've actually seen newer firmwares give worse results than older ones, and a firmware on one line may not be as effective as an alternative one on a different line. Usually newer firmwares contain bugfixes and enhancements to the ADSL engine. The main issue is not being able to fully use DMTtool with newer releases.
Also it can sometimes be a little bit difficult to downgrade the firmware with Speedtouch routers.

Hi Kitz. I've just got the Speedtouch 585v7. Will Firmware 6.1.4.3 work with it do you know? If it does I would really appreciate it if you could please point me to where I can get the firmware. I've also PM'd you about it.

The TG585v7 has a different board to the ST585v6 and unfortunately the ST585v6 6.1.4.3 firmware doesnt work with that router. :/
Later versions of the TG585v7 firmware should let you view some more info on DMTtool than the earlier versions as long as you put it into 'unknown firmware mode'. But it doesnt support the Target SNR tweak as Thompson have made the command unavailable.

I'm using that latest version of the DGTeam DG834v3 Build 849 firmware however I have a problem I cannot get the Block Sites to function.
If I put something like facebook.com into the block url / domain list, and set to always block, I can still access the site via my browser.
I then flashed to the standard 4.01.40 firmware from netgear, and using the OEM firmware the block site function works however I can only have 1 trusted IP which is kinda no good for me as I want to allow several machines in the house to access these sites.
Any suggestions on what is up with the DGTeam build block sites function?
PS. I can't register for the DGForums to ask there as I don't have a reg key !

You may wish to stick to one post not several. This post is for the speedtouch firmware release. There is a Netgear post that you have done, stick with that.

I had a look for the 6.1.0.5 ST546 firmware on the site the other poster mentioned (download.modem-help.co.uk) but there are many different variations of it.
For example the most recent generic copy says it will lock you to annex b, so I would appreciate some help as to which is the precise one to go for please.

Annex B is for an ISDN connection (mainly used in Germany etc). Annex A is for standard ADSL.
I *think* that for the 546v6 release 7.4.3.2 is for Annex A and should work in the U.K.

Thanks, but I'm looking for the last firmware that enabled SNR changing with DMT.
The previous posters said it was 6.1.0.5 for the ST546v6.
On that site the most recent one of those firmwares was obtained from a German ISP, so that explains what you've said, but that has made me wary as to which of the others to go for.
If someone could take a look at the list on that site with a search of the firmware version and tell me which is suitable that would be much appreciated.
