i recently complained to my ISP about my poor line statistics am on 500K
these are my line stats
downstream upstream
Connection Speed 608 kbps 288 kbps
Line Attenuation 60.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 11.8 db 17.0 db
which of course for 500K is poor so they said there gettin engineers to sort something out at the exchange this is what i got off them

Usually, results come back within 72 working hours, but in this case, following the result of the testing at the exchange, our engineering team have organised a port change. This is still in process now, but is usually completed with 6 working days. Therefore, I would expect yours to be completed within the next day or two.
As soon as this is done, we will communicate with you further with the results of our findings.

what does port change mean??? could this mean i could get faster speeds and a more stableised connection??

Port change (or lift and shift) is moving you either on to another VP or another DSLAM at the exchange.
Since most exchanges are now supposed to be using "SuperVPs" then its probably moving you over to another DSLAM.
Its normally done 5 working days after the request and involves downtime of around 1/2 hour whilst the engineer takes "the pair" from your phone line and reconnects them to different equipment.
