Title: Three UK 5G in Thanet?
Post by: dog-man on July 22, 2022, 03:39:04 PM
Does anyone know if 5G is available with Three UK in Thanet?
The coverage checker says no, but I think I have read posts on the internet saying otherwise.

I don't know about 3 but EE has quite good 5G coverage so there is 5G availabl;e but you have to pick the right network. EE is certainly good here in Thanet as I've been using it for years with very few issues, although right now I don't have a 5G phone only 4G.

Not sure where you're checking but it shows 5G in both Margate (its had 5G for a long time) and also Ramsgate.

CellMapper(.net) says the local mast has 5G available. No one with their app has been to that area recently, so there's no data for 5G.

But maps don't tell the full story. For example, Three's 5G is usually fast, but their 4G is slow in some places... what if there's 5G outside, but not indoors?

I recommend testing it yourself. Order a SIM card from Smarty (they're essentially Three, but with monthly contracts), put it on your phone or 5G modem, and check the signal/run some speed tests where you plan to use it. When you're done, cancel the contract (or keep it, Smarty is good if you don't want to do long term contracts).
