Title: Internet Radio Station
Post by: Broadband1 on August 06, 2008, 01:49:09 PM
Hi all, I recently decided to run an Internet Radio Station and I was wandering do I need a microphone or can I broadcast music off my soundcard. And yes, yes I do play requested songs  ;D

Yes you will need a mic, of which will be plugged into your sound card.

You'll need a mic, if you want to talk. If not, you don't need one!

How you going to run it? Shoutcast (http://www.shoutcast.com/download/broadcast.phtml) is a good start if you don't have any suggestions yourself!

Will do!

Is it repeating the current song? As it did disconnect a while back after the track finished?

Trying to listen in Winamp but it's not working for some reason. It just says "Connecting..."

Try using QuickTime as it worked in that as well.

Or VLC media player:-

Okay anybody know why I lose the sound about a minute into the track, using Media Player 11, I don't think its you Broadband1 'cos the visualizations keep changing so the sound is there it just stops coming out of the speakers, tried it twice and same thing happened both times.

Firefox says that your Server is taking to long to respond so it could be bandwidth related?

How connections have you got currently?

You could install Last.fm and run that to show peeps what songs you have played?

www.last.fm

It does actually work but a small piece of software is needed to Scrobble the tracks

Broadband and jid,

Just to slow down you two entrepreneurs a bit. Richard Branson thought up an original name that had not belonged to anyone else, for his businesses.

Please remember that the name ’KITZ’ is a trademark of this ADSL site and cannot be used to try to bolster private enterprises such as your ’radio station’. Nor can it be used to indicate that this site in anyway supports your enterprise.

As an aside, you would be better off with a microphone and keep a phone line available with the number being announced on a regular basis.

I don't mind changing the name. I'm looking into a microphone preferably a cheap on. How does Chillax FM sound  ;D

*EDIT* Hopefully Kitz finds it in her heart not to sue me for copyright infringements for a few hours.

Think you may be in trouble with the 'bigger' boys by using that name:

Before you start publishing a name, Google your ideas and don't step on anyones toes.

BB 1,This is a Broadband Forum not a radio station. If you want people to listen to your station use your own web site.I agree with Dave.m that in no way should the name 'KITZ' be used to promote your radio station. If I personally want to listen to radio stations I visit that stations website, not a broadband forum.
Goodluck with what you are doing but IMO it should not be promoted via this site.
