Title: download on vivaldi
Post by: grumpy old man on June 30, 2021, 08:35:07 PM
I use vivaldi as my main browser.  Recently I have experienced a problem in downloading pdf's, doc's files etc.  The file is showing as being downloaded in download pane but when finished the file size of download reverts to zero and nothing has been downloaded.

I am having no difficulty in downloading using opera browser.  I have been through all the vivaldi browser settings but to no avail.

Any suggestions as to what might be causing this problem?

this indicates something might be blocking the writing of the file, maybe security software, it also could mean that the temporary location used by the browser has ran out of space.

Thank you for your reply.

The problem has resolved itself.  Not sure how, I had just downloaded and installed uBlock Origin, a GDPR cookie pop up blocker, although seems unlikely that would have resolved issue.

Ignore my last post, problem has returned.

How would I know what is blocking writing of file?  Location is downloads folder, no problem with space.

Have you checked the path of the download folder to make sure it is correct?   You must have the full download path eg
C:\Users\kitz\Downloads

other than that as Chrys says, it feels like some security setting.

I have checked path for download folder and it appears to be correct.

I haven't downloaded any new security software recently, so why the downloads have stopped is puzzling.
