Sam Calvert, Marketing Director of Plusnet said, “2021 is going to be a big year for Plusnet - we are continuing to simplify our product range so we can invest in developments to improve our reliability - such as a new wireless router, and the launch of full fibre (FTTP). We’re also continuing to simplify our website and apps so customers can make the most of these digital channels.
“Most importantly, we’re making sure our customers are happy by continuing to deliver award-winning customer service when they need us most.”

Never believe anything marketing people say, especially at Director level, they don't know what's really going on.
On the Plusnet forum, the long awaited firmware update for the HUB1 has still not been released as new bugs have been found. Bob Pullen is working to sort this and when asked about a new router he says he knows nothing about it. I suppose that is to be expected if has not been announced yet but is it just marketing hype.
Also there is no sign of FTTP or G.Fast services coming from Plusnet.
As for simplifying the website they seem to be removing almost all methods of contacting support. >:(
-
Good that they're finally getting on board with FTTP, though I must admit I'm not sure what the point of them is now. Not sure where they fit in the family given BT and EE.
Wonder if they'll install a 4th line for me?
-

That to me means get rid of any extras and cut stuff back.

G.fast I can perhaps understand, I see no reason why they wouldnt want to retail FTTP as part of their product suite. As the man says with more people working at home, then more people looking to increase their bandwidth and may end up going to the likes of TT. The added advantage of FTTP stability over FTTC has got to be a big bonus when it comes to support time and costs which have increased since FTTC.
IMHO it would be stupid of them not to.. because they are no longer just competing against "BT" and the niche providers... but the customers they will be hoping to attract will be those who would otherwise turn to TT.

Certainly makes it simpler for them, no contact, no complaints!
Wonder if they will ever manage to fix their "new" admin/billing system as impemented end of 2018?
I gave up after 11 years of patronage and 2 years of unresolved admin issues.
-
Funny is plusnet took two years to fix my billing issues and written off the last two years with no charge against line rental and fttc 80/20. Almost free for two years. And plusnet has apology to me but as a goodwill gesture they put my biggest discount for fibre 80/20 £20.03 monthly discounts for 12 months cost me just 96p for fibre and line only last year as it expires this June this year.
I did ask Bob Pullen about when will plusnet have new router, FTTP and g fast service. Bob say nothing is planned as he aware of.
-
Here we go!
FTTP coming soon from Plusnet this summer! Look like Plusnet snub G.fast afterall.
https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2021/04/broadband-isp-plusnet-uk-predicted-to-launch-fttp-this-summer.html
-
I wouldn't hold your breath, could be months, or years, no doubt they'd blame the billing system, I'm sure they hard code products into it, rather than using a database that's easily updated.
UPDATE 8:35am
Plusnet has now indicated to us that FTTP is expected to launch a “bit later” than summer.
-
I'm afraid I've no further info either other than "over the next year" :(

To be fair, that's at least as specific as the actual roll out of FTTP in each area. ;)

Just think; if tomorrow never comes, the next year is even further away. :oldman: ::)

Misleading about Plusnet FTTP from Openreach site: https://www.openreach.com/news/mp-visits-broadband-build-as-speeds-set-to-bounce-near-historic-derbyshire-dam/
This work taking place in Derbyshire is part of Openreach’s nationwide effort to build gigabit-capable, future-proof full fibre broadband networks - used by the likes of BT, Sky, Plusnet, TalkTalk and Zen - in cities, towns and villages as part of a plan to reach 20 million premises by the mid-to-late 2020s.
There is no FTTP on Plusnet. Openreach should removed that misleads wording off
-
They probably have internal trials ongoing.
-
>> There is no FTTP on Plusnet. <<
As Carl says, they may well have trials. They do have some accounts that have been on FTTP for a while as a trial, so the fact that they supply to FTTP to some customers isn't totally untrue.
Anyhow, the article is more about Openreach using a new method of laying the fibre optic cables.

I've never understood why these big ISP's delay in announcing FTTP. It's not like they are building their own network. All they have to do is have their own router that is capable of FTTP speeds.
I'm sure there is something more going on than I know. But it does confuse me when I see belatedly big ISP's announcing FTTP.
-
Maybe to do with staffs not enough fully training on FTTP or maybe to do with Openreach not fully setup on their system.
-
Wasn’t it because Plusnet’s billing system is broken
-
Blimey it been broken billing for ages! Last time I left Plusnet last year with the billing issues still ongoing for the last 2 years with no fix date.
-
Wasn’t it because Plusnet’s billing system is broken
Utterly broken, here's hoping Plusnet Mobile get VoLTE, Wifi Calling and 5G before EE shut off the 3G signal next year.
-
I doubt it Plusnet will get 5G for a long while off yet (not this year nor next year)
-
When I left Plusnet (said I did not want to renew the contract), on the last month they charged me for both the end of the contract period and the uncontracted FULL price for the rest of that month. I do not recall any other company doing such a thing.
Yes they promised it would auto-refund later and surprisingly it did, but is it not illegal to take money for a period outside your contract when you explicitly cancelled it?
-
A gentle reminder that this topic, "Plusnet to Launch FTTP Soon", is in the News Articles section. Discussions about a particular ISP should be made in the ISPs (https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/board,6.0.html) section.

Plusnet FTTP available to all from today: https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2022/08/plusnet-make-full-fibre-broadband-available-to-all-uk-customers.html

Seem so strange their site haven't updated yet!

Seem so strange their site haven't updated yet!
They must be doing it now:
Sorry about this, we're just making a few updates. We'll have this fixed as soon as we can, so please pop back later.
-
The site been updated but it didn't show all pricing! But, knowing FTTP won't be coming to Cuckoo Oak until 2030 - that's my wild guess! Will remain on FTTC 80/20 until FTTP become available then will change to FTTP 80/20.
-
And they've broken their site on Firefox:
Error code: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP
Previously the portal had this problem but not the main website.

Or they don't offer Gigabit yet, as it says Full Fibre 500 is their "fastest ever speeds".
Their Full Fibre 74 is a pretty good deal though. I've been checking a few ISPs and few seem to be pushing Full Fibre at FTTC speeds, only for the faster ones.
-
I have seen the price for full fibre from Plusnet. All must come with 24 months contract might put off customers of signing up. I am sure other ISPs are much cheaper than that with standard 12 months contract.
Full Fibre 74Mb £25.99 for 24 months
Full Fibre 145Mb £30.99 for 24 months
Full Fibre 500Mb £40.99 for 24 months
There is no full fibre for lower entry such as 35Mb or higher one such as 900Mb.
-
I did email a isp a while back asking them would they make me liable if I couldnt keep my FTTP for 2 years due to tenancy expiring on property, at first they refused to talk unless I gave them an active FTTP postcode, so gave them a postcode, then I got a response along the lines of our supplier requires us to commit this long so I would be liable, I then linked them some documents from openreach stating thats not true (1 month) and they stopped responding.
Its a shame plusnet a budget ISP has no 12 month packages.

They're taking a hit on the installation fee so understandable that there are minimum contracts. From Openreach based ISPs. I've not seen better deals so far. The alt-nets can offer better deals as they don't have anti-competitive rules to prevent them. If Openreach were left to their own devices they'd just price everyone out of the market.
The only puzzling thing is that Talk Talk offer 900 for I think around £50 (their checker is broken right now so cannot confirm) which you'd think Plusnet would want to compete with.

And TalkTalk will discount their packages, you can get £500 for closer to £35

Vodafone appear to let you keep your landline + no upfront costs.
I'm an existing Vodafone customer so there is a discount included. I think it means normally £25 but discounted to £23 if I tie it in with my mobile.
Great news - you can get Vodafone Full Fibre Broadband
at x, xxxxxxx, xxxxxx, xx##xx
Keep my landline number 012########
Now only £25
Superfast 100
Includes
Intelligent WiFi Hub
Vodafone Together - existing mobile customer discount applied
£0 upfront
£23 a month*
Usually £36 a month
Speed to your WiFi hub
Minimum guarantee 50 Mbps
Download speed 100 Mbps
Upload speed 18 Mbps
Please note – your monthly price will increase after 24 months, when your in-contract discount expires.
I can't seem to find any more info about retaining your landline. Bearing in mind I have a Tunstall alarm modem that runs over the [copper] landline.
-
Kitz - that's a good price vodafone full fibre 100 for £25 a month and keep your landline number and line for your Tunstall alarm modem. I think it Vodafone 100 in both down and up if I am correct? As They probably using cityfibre. Good luck with your FTTP.
-
It says 100 down 18 up.
We have no city fibre. Just Openreach.

That's a great bonus up from FTTC 76/18 to FTTP 100/18 - better than nothing! ;D

Its a bit tight though, I had 100/30 on Digital Region over VDSL. The only reason OR was limited to 76/18 was a technical one to minimise crosstalk.
Still it could be worse, with Virgin doing 50/5 for £38, 108/10 for £44, 213/20 for £50, 362/36 for £56, 1130/52 for £60, its downright insane pricing there.
IMO FTTP should have a base package of 100/20 across all ISPs, its good enough for most people I'd expect and you can't get the price low enough for slower to be worth it.
