Title: help remembering term for where upstream n downstream split

hello guys n gals

I cant remember the proper term/name for whre the upstream and downstream split - i recall there was a proper name for it, something the 'X' point (X being the word i cant remember lol)

can any of our skilled engineers remind me please?

What the context, please? Frequency Division Multiplexing, Time Division Multiplexing, neither and using echo cancellation and extremely clever maths along a metallic path?

Hi Carl, thanks for your swift reply , much appreciated, noit was just i was describing some things about DSL to my dad and i recall ther a proper name for where upstream n downstream splits, it has a name, like i say the 'something' point - been 15 year n im old so memory id going - it wasnt important i would just like to keep as much of my knowledge

I'm dying to know what you mean by "upstream and downstream splits" because its making my brain hurt trying to understand what on earth you could mean.  Splits from what?

the tones were the upstream and downstream change in the dynamic spectrum ..maybe its just in ADLS i dunno but it had a proper name/term which i learned on THIS site I'm sure (may have been ASSIA documents) ita the point where upstream has a white space then downstream

if no one can think of it - forget about it not important - but there IS a term for it, like a split point but a longer better term

@Snadge Is it possible you are thinking of Demarcation point, otherwise known as the Master Socket which of course is nothing to do with Upstream and Downstream split, whatever that may be. ???

This is what threw me as I assumed you were meaning DSL but there isn't necessarily just one split , thus the bandplan that defines which tones are for upstream and which for down.  Also where it splits depends on the annex and DSL version in use.
