Title: Moving equipment to new pole
Post by: Barns687 on March 23, 2021, 10:54:11 AM
Been trying to get Openreach fibre and BT phone line moved onto a new pole in our garden. The pole belongs to Western Power and they have already moved the electrics. Been going back and forth for a year now and the repayments engineer I was assigned to in July either doesn’t answer phone or email or just says he has to speak to someone else and he’ll call me back but never does. Any tips on how I can speed things up? Pole needs to be gone by end of April and Western Power said they’ll still remove it if we can get the fibre off there before that.

Welcome to the forums.

Seeing how long it's being going on and time is getting short, I'd suggest an email to the Openreach CEO  clive dot selley at openreach.co.uk giving them full details  ;)

Welcome to the Kitz forum.

. . .  and the repayments engineer I was assigned to in July . . .

Hmm . . . "repayments engineer"?  :hmm:  I've never come across that job title before.

If the Electricity distribution company own the pole then it is their responsibility to communicate with other organisation(s) that share the use of that pole.

I wonder if Black Sheep would be able to enlighten us?

Thanks all.

Western Power don’t do the comms with BT - / Openreach. If Openreach don’t move their equipment then Western Power will just transfer ownership of the pole to BT.

Another possible issue is that I believe shared power/telecoms poles are frowned upon now. When I was involved in getting broadband into our village hall we had to have a new pole erected as the only suitably close one was shared and Openreach refused to use it for that reason.
