I’m mildly curious, which spelling do you prefer, in the word’s computer context?
I’ve been using ‘nybble’ a lot in code comments this past few days. But from associated googling on these coding topics I have become aware that ‘nibble’ might be much more common.
Personally, I strongly favour the ‘y’, on the grounds that the word is a derivative of ‘byte’ not ‘bite’.
And yes I know, it is not an important question, most people just won’t care. That’s why I’m posting in Chit Chat. :D

I must admit I've only ever seen and used 'nibble', but your logic for using a 'y' makes perfect sense.
:)

I’ve only ever used ‘nibble’ and I agree with tubaman; your choice makes sense.

Glad it meets with a degree of approval.
I can't remember where I picked up the habit, but I think I'm sticking with it. At least for code comments, and especially as nobody else will ever see the code I write nowadays.
I could add to Weaver's 'vices' thread, maybe? :D

I get the vague feeling that I’ve seen it written somewhere a long long time ago, so you might have been influenced by such, as I suspect we are both slightly ;) older than some.
