Title: Windows 10 October 2020 Update released
Post by: gt94sss2 on October 24, 2020, 01:50:52 AM
Microsoft's roll-out of the next Windows 10 Update has commenced. Officially called Windows 10 20H2 under Microsoft's new naming scheme

Its more of a service pack (like last autumn's update) rater than a full release, it largely enables features previously downloaded if running 2004.

However, that does not mean it is totally without issues : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-20h2

I usually wait a few months before installing the major OS upgrades, by then they've usually ironed out most of the bugs.

I wish they would just give security updates instead of all these "features".

It seems with every update it brings new problems.

I have now taken the plunge and applied the 20H2 upgrade (plus one other update which had become 'stuck')... we will see what happens.

Strangely when I went to Updates I was getting Error Code 80070002 (Windows could not update at this time), but following the advice here I resolved it by resetting the time zone (changing it from auto to manual), then resynchronising the time and rebooting.

The only Windows 10 device I have is a small Lenovo server but the upgrade to 20H2 was quick and without any issues at all.  I always expect the worse, especially with a server running completely headless.  But there was no need to breakout the peripherals and go manual as the upgrade was completed first attempt via Remote Desktop.

I still hate Windows though.   ???
