Title: Last Retrain Reason: 8000
Post by: Alex Atkin UK on September 14, 2020, 07:02:13 PM
Saw my modem reporting Last Retrain Reason: 8000 and wondered if anyone knew what this means?

Max:   Upstream rate = 19671 Kbps, Downstream rate = 58650 Kbps
Bearer:   0, Upstream rate = 20000 Kbps, Downstream rate = 60558 Kbps
Bearer:   1, Upstream rate = 0 Kbps, Downstream rate = 0 Kbps
ChipSet Vendor Id:   IFTN:0xd086
ChipSet VersionNumber:   0xd086

Its currently synced higher than usual with a slightly lower SNR than usual too (I'd say crosstalk increase as it affects both lines but its curious I got that higher sync to begin with).

The curious thing is my main line on the same cabinet does not appear to have resynced.

A forum thread from 2018 (https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,21594.msg373250.html#msg373250) might be a good starting point.  ;)

This thread (https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=20579.0) would seem more relevant.  I had no idea the question had been asked so much, but in my defence the forum search option is painfully slow so I hate using it.  Never thought to use Google instead  :-[ silly me, as it brings you back to the forum anyway.

So Retrain Reason: G992 Failure, which is not really any clearer to be honest.

Just use the following format for a Google search --
