Title: BT Wholesale checker: new information
Post by: GigabitEthernet on September 13, 2020, 07:29:16 PM
I see the BTw checker now shows the following:

The premise/line is associated with exchange which is NOT part of current fibre priority programme.

The premise/line is associated with exchange where WLR is not withdrawn.

The premise/line is associated with exchange where SOADSL service is restricted.

Does anyone know what this means?

https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/downloads/dialogueservicesproductguide.pdf (https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/downloads/dialogueservicesproductguide.pdf)

Quote
FTTP Priority Exchange – A value of Y indicates the exchange is upgraded for FTTP provision.
WLR Withdrawal – A value of Y indicates WLR provision is restricted for the exchange.
MPF Restriction - A value of Y indicates MPF provision is restricted for the exchange.
SOTAP Restriction - A value of Y indicates SOTAP provision is restricted for the exchange.

FTTP Priority Exchange = what it says
WLR = Wholesale Line Rental https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/wlr3/wlr3.do
MPF = Metallic Path Facility https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/llu/mpf/mpf.do
SO - Single Order; SoADSL/SoTAP = xDSLwithout a voice PSTN https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/llu/sotap/downloads/sotap.pdf (https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/llu/sotap/downloads/sotap.pdf)

Its curious my exchange is not showing a priority exchange despite being the first on the Fibre First list for Sheffield (yet likely the last to get it due to the delay).

[UPDATE]
I see in the comments it appears this field is not being populated for any Fibre First exchanges right now.

Intake has lots of PON's 'in play', according to our survey tool ??

Are those the limited new builds they did years ago?  The main rollout has supposedly been delayed to 2022 due to power issues in the exchange.

I did think 2 years delay to overhaul the power in the exchange seemed a bit extreme so I was hoping that was a worst-case scenario.

I would have assumed the new fields in the checker were for the exchanges that OR have marked for the removal of copper services and the migration process they are using (i.e. with the removal of copper based services once certain thresholds have been met)

Agreed, I think its a forward thinking move and why it seems they aren't populating them all with the relevant details yet.

I wasn't aware of the power issues, my apologies.

My vision of the build shows 2/3 of the entire area as surveyed and awaiting build-packs (civils work/cabling & splicing), with the remaining 1/3 having survey packs ready to go out.

Good to know they got that far, it at least means less delays once they can progress.  Just a shame they wont install the fibre before the kit is in the exchange, so it could be an instant switch-on.  ::)

That is FTTP on Demand which is available to most people and it means you don't have FTTP but could "demand" Openreach to install it at your own cost, anything from a few thousand to £30K or more.
