Title: Anyone on 4g

What average speeds do you get?  I have a dongle and 3 sim on the way to test as a backup solution.

Anything from 2Mbit to 50Mbit with huge latency under load, although looks like that might be improving:

It’s not long before things get a whole lot smoother, with up to 130% faster speeds on our network.

Be very interesting if this resolves the load here, as I should be able to hit 100Mbit on my 4G router.

I was actually going to cancel when the contract ends, but this might change my mind.

Be nice if it was cheaper but still I have seen 22pm on offer which isnt bad.

I had a bit of a play with 4G towards the start of last year - specifically with Three. There's a 7 page topic here (https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,23182.0.html) which documents my experience, along with replies from others who have contributed their own configurations and experiences.

My own experience condensed down would be that with the best positioning indoors using a dedicated modem, downstream speeds varied anywhere between 15-90 Mbps depending on the time of day. During the night, it would quite happily sit around 70 Mbps. However, during the day through to evening it could be as low as 15 Mbps, but typically somewhere between 20-40 Mbps if I recall correctly. Upload speeds were around 20 Mbps.

70/30 to 50/20 depending on time of day. Ping around 20. Using EE with VPN from AAISP for fixed IP.

I bought it as an emergency replacement for a faulty FTTC line, however so far it’s been cheaper, faster and more reliable. Planning on dumping the landline, assuming they ever get it working.

I'm on Three

Here is some of my tests, sat in front of my PC.

Here is one on 5G because why not eh?

https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6618375085

Average speeds i'd say anywhere between 50 and 80. However have seen it go as high at 110 on 4G. On 5G I hit 330ish as the highest speed but that speed test isn't in my results anymore so I can't share it.

Ping isn't that greatest as you can see, not really much I can do about that. I imagine when 5G becomes more wide spread the ping should improve quite a bit.

Are you finding your regular fixed line broadband unreliable? Otherwise I would've thought using your smartphone's hotspot feature would suffice for most people as an emergency.

Between 70 to 120 Mb/s but I'm very close to an O2 Band 40 2300mhz mast which is capable of 380 Mb/s if no one else is using it
