Title: ECI Cabinet switched to 5dB SNR upstream this morning
Post by: temporarychicken on September 03, 2020, 10:36:57 AM
This morning at just after 3am I noticed a DLM intervention on my ECI cabinet.

The upstream SNR (previously 6dB) is now running at 5dB, with an appropriate increase in upload speed.

Anybody else had this? I'm assuming it's part of a national roll-out strategy.

Don't think you had a DLM intervention. The cabinet was rebooted, possibly for a software update, and you connected before some of your neighbours so had a connection relatively free of crosstalk for a while. As they reconnected it brought your SNR margins down accordingly.

Your downstream SNR is apparently 3.5 dB which points to this also.

Neither Huawei or ECI have upstream target SNR set below 6 dB as far as I know.

I'm currently interleaved since those storms a few weeks ago. I had a resynch 8 days ago and my downstream SNR is 3.5 dB (ECI) which hasn't changed since.

That's not the target SNRM though, but rather the current SNRM.

The whole cabinet gets rebooted.
Your target is 6dB, you connect at 6dB, then your crosstalkers connect after you bringing down your noise margin.

DLM never lowers the upstream noise margin and it never moves in more than 1dB steps at a time.
