Title: Rain Affecting Connection - Just Coincidence?

I lost connection (FTTC 80/20) a couple weeks ago for about 12 hours and in the run up I was having trouble with it with pages slow to load, video calls stuttering and other annoyances. It was around the same time we had some pretty bad rain. I spoke with Vodafone and they weren't much help but the connection seemed to sort itself out after a few days but I could see in DSLstats it had changed to interleave mode. Prior to that my connection had been rock solid at 80/20 with no interleaving on it.

After calling Vodafone, it stayed steady for a couple weeks and came off interleave mode but since the rain has been back these last couple of days, my DSLstats have taken a dip. Errors have gone through the roof, interleave depth is increasing, starting to get resyncs and sync speed is dropping.

It seems a coincidence that this is happening when it rains but could it be the case the rain is causing my connection to play up and there is a fault somewhere on my line?

may have been lightning in the distance (it can be quite far away and still affect things), or maybe water leaking into an area of exposed cabling somewhere.
