Title: Ruckus r500 vs TP Link eap 225
Post by: aty on August 18, 2020, 08:01:58 PM
Hi,

I’ve started looking into having a couple of access points in the house.

I’ve bought a TP Link eap 225 outdoor and was wondering how the signal strength and throughput on both 2.4and 5ghz is vs the indoor.

Also I’ve seen some Ruckus r500’s going for about the same price. I know these are old and you can install the unleashed firmware on them (but there is no further support going forward).

Does any body know if the Ruckus r500 would be better than the tp link? and if so how/why.

TIA

Hi aty,

How's the TP-Link eap 225 performing?

Hi,

Sorry for not replying before.

Retuned the eap and kept the Ruckus.

Rock solid.

I had the R600's originally and sold them because I wanted to have WiFi 6.

Big mistake, so I managed to grab some r500's.

As for now I see no downside.

I found if you bid for a multiple quantity (3/4) you might have a better chance as most people only want 1 or 2.

Then sell the unwanted ones back on eBay.
