How much do ZyXel VMG8924-B10A typically go for on the well known auction site?

Does anyone know if routers supplied by John Lewis broadband are locked in any way?

My VMG8924-B10A was a John Lewis unit originally and the Admin user was on the default settings. I got the Supervisor user easily enough using the dumpmdm command. I think that is now firmware version dependant, so you might need to load an older version to get that to work.

If anyone is interested there's two VMG8924-B10A's on eBay at the moment listed at starting bid of £15 with no bids as yet which both finish soon after 17:10 today.

I have two of these, the first one was a John Lewis branded one which I have de-branded and disabled the TR-069 options via the supervisor account with johnson's latest x6 firmware flashed onto it. I've cloned my settings to the second one I have as a back-up.

I paid between £30-£40 for each one, but are much better than the Billion 8800AXL.

Does the VMG8924-B10A have the extra filters?

If so I might have bid if I had known as I'm curious if it will handle my bad line any better than the VMG3925.

Yes has the on board filter.

Well, it's arrived and working.
Max:    Upstream rate = 25898 Kbps, Downstream rate = 90338 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 19999 Kbps, Downstream rate = 79999 Kbps

That's the best max downstream I've seen for some time.

I'm getting something odd on the upstream when I run a speed test. It goes in distinct bursts.

Suggestions please.

Nice. Have you unlocked/unbranded? Easy enough?

I'm struggling with that - there's so many posts that I'm having trouble determining the final status of the advice.

I had it running on V28 - but no VoIP menu which I want to try. IPv6 working fine.

Downgraded to V20 and have found the supervisor password using dumpmdm. For some reason I haven't yet figured out I've lost IPv6. I do have the VoIP menu when logged in as supervisor.

Login privilege - there's no save to give admin the VoIP menu.

Where do I go from here?

IPV6 on my 8924 doesn't come back up after a far end PPP resync. I find if I just reapply the VDSL settings (without change) it always comes back up. This is on BT, your mileage may vary.
The save option for the login priv should become available if you save your config to ROM-D. However the changes don't survive a power reboot on my device for some reason.

Wow. That’s a good price. Makes me wonder why I have been struggling to get VMG1312-B10As for which I have often paid far more. I would imagine the 1312-B10A has no advantages - if anything the other way round, although I myself would only be using them as modems not router’s and no wireless

I found this in the HTML for the Login Priviledge

Code: [Select]
<button type="button" class="ui-state-default ui-corner-all" lingo="auto" style="display: none;">Save</button>
Removing the style="display: none;" gives you the button, clicking it goes away for a short time, but the changes made are not actually saved!
