Hi,
I have recently moved house and am trying to get the internet sorted out. I have a HG612 that I have unlocked and a TP-Link C5400. I live out in the sticks and have pretty c**p internet (with BT). I am trying to configure the HG612 so it will work with the C5400 on ADSL and have followed the information here https://wiki.kitz.co.uk/index.php/Huawei_HG612_-_Basic#Huawei_HG612_-_Basic_configuration (https://wiki.kitz.co.uk/index.php/Huawei_HG612_-_Basic#Huawei_HG612_-_Basic_configuration) to no avail.
I've tried resetting the HG612 to default and that also hasn't worked.
I used bthomehub@btbroadband.com and password bt.
Am I missing something :(?
Thanks very much for your time,
Paula

Lets first check the basics. Could you confirm:
- You've reset the HG612 modem to default and then haven't made any changes on the modem at all (e.g. I hope you haven't tried to put the username and password on to the modem!).
- You've connected LAN1 on the modem to the port labelled Internet on the router.
- You've entered the username and password on the router.
-
@Jelv The HG612 has to be reconfigured to work on ADSL, default is VDSL2 modem only.
The WAN interface has to be changed to ATM instead of PTM. I have done this before I had FTTC available.
-
Thanks - is that the only change? I've a feeling that the OP has tried to put the authentication details in to the modem.
-
Yes the Kitz Wiki is to set it up as a router which is not what is needed.
-
My recollection was the HG612 default configuration is modulation: All
Might be wrong though.
The only change that should be needed (if at all) is checking ADSL2 in modulation.
edit: from the kitz page linked above
The default configuration is for All to be selected. With that setting each mode will be tested, in turn, starting from VDSL2 and will cease once a stable sync with the remote DSLAM (or MSAN) has been obtained.

@jelv, thanks for the reply.
-I had made changes whilst trying different things but it is now set back to default.
-Yes, that's how the cable is connected
-Yep, on the router
I had tried to put authentication details into the modem but it has been reset since then
@therealalemadrid
I had tried deleting the PTM profiles and adding an ATM, but who knows if I did it correctly. Probably not :-\
@j0hn
I had also tried just selecting adsl and nothing else in modulation but again to no avail
Thanks for your help so far guys,
Paula

Just reviewed the Kitz wiki instructions.
I think you may need to change the ATM settings to match the image.

@jelv, thank you again
I have tried those exact settings, however I always get this message on the router
Oops...the internet connection is not setup successfully
1.Make sure all cables are connected properly
2.Click Back and verify that the Internet information is correct
3.Contact our technical support if the problem still exists

What is the status screen of the HG512 telling you? Is the ADSL side of things showing as connected there, as that will be a good starting point?
:)
-
@tubaman thanks, I've attached some screenshots from the status screen. The DSL light is solid green too

and this one

So it looks like the ADSL side of things is connected ok (albeit not very fast :(), so this suggests the problem is the PPP connection settings.
I've also just found an AAISP config guide - https://support.aa.net.uk/Router_-_EchoLife_HG612. This should set it as an ADSL modem bridge, which is what you want. I'd reset it to default first and try that.
-
It will be just the part from under Basic -> WAN to the end of that section.

?? - if it starts at default it'll need the ADSL part setup too.
:)

Thanks very much everyone, that did the trick. Appreciate your time, thanks again :)

Good news - thanks for letting us know. ;D
