Title: PPP disconects randomly with large downloads
Post by: banger on June 11, 2020, 09:20:41 PM
I have been trying to update my Laptop to Win 10 2004 and it was getting updates which was a rather large download then my streaming music stopped and so did the download after a couple of minutes. This is random and sometimes I can download on all 3 computers and max out my line (66) and sometimes the PPP session drops.

It says in my Uno session history "port-error" at exactly the same time as the PPP session drops. My setup can be seen in my signature and the VMG-1312-B10A DSL stays up all through the PPP drop. I am sure this was a random problem with my previous router an Asus DSL-N55U in router mode.

So the only thing common in this scenario is the Make of router, line card and ISP oh and Asus Firmware. How to diagnose this?

Tim

As someone who had to return a new Asus RT-AC68U to Amazon after a few days use due to frequent and random PPP session terminations, I think you had an input to the recent post on the subject, I do hope your issue is temporary and easily resolved.

I have found another anomaly. After updating firmware to one just released on 3 June with lots of security fixes in it I was listening to streaming radio on my Amazon devices on 2.4 ghz and transferring a 4 gigabyte file from wired PC to laptop on 5 ghz and the radio streaming dropped out. So have sent off some details to Asus, hope they start fixing their firmware.

So far so good. The new firmware seems to have fixed some bugs and security holes according to the documentation then I was advised on SNB Forums to do a complete reset after firmware upgrade and manually configure and also set 2.4 to a manual channel as well as 5 ghz and so far no drops after a few days uptime.
