Title: Any suggestions for a Chrome OS addon?
Post by: Bowdon on January 24, 2020, 02:13:26 PM
I've finally bought the Chromebook OS device. But before I'm booting up I'm trying to get everything in place first.

I would assume the browser its using is Chrome. So I'm going to need an adblocker of some type. Which blockers do people use on Chrome?

On my Firefox I use uBlock Origin and Adblock Plus. Are these both available for Chrome?

yes; on my chromebook i have installed Ublock origin, i have never heard of anyone using 2 ad-blockers, I don't think that is necessary.

Check here https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions?hl=en-GB for adblock plus

If you are a windows user; install chrome on your windows machine then

1) import all bookmarks from firefox; install extensions required
2) Sign in (or create) your google account
3) Make sure sync is enabled

Then after the sync is complete, sign into  your new chromebook with your google account, all bookmarks, history extensions will be synced across.

I only use a windows laptop for VPN'ing in to work; chromebooks rule, especially with android apps.

ublock origin all the way - that one alone is sufficient, you don't need to run more than 1.

+1 for uBlock Origin in Chrome.

Also, if like me, you're not a big fan of cookie pop ups whilst browsing then well worth adding the 'I don't care about cookies' extension in Chrome.

I created a thread earlier in how to block annoying pop ups in Chrome:
