Title: How to make a VPN connection?
Post by: maanvol on January 02, 2020, 09:35:31 AM
I am confused with the amount of fields on VMG8924-B10A to make a VPN connection. Could you, please tell how to do this. Which information is needed? Let us say I want a connection to windscribe vpn, how to do it, on VMG8924-B10A?

I believe the router only supports IPsec and it looks like Windscribe (and most good VPNs) only supports OpenVPN.

Some VPNs support IPsec but its not generally recommended as its typically less secure.

Is it possible to apply the ZyXEL router, as a home router, and connect it to a dedicated OpenVPN router? What settings are needed on the ZyXEL to make it function. Many thanks for your help.

Yes, you can do that but the settings need to be entered on the other router.

Probably simplest way is just to bin the Zyxel altogether and replace with something like the Asus DSL-AC88U, on which you can setup a OpenVPN connection - stay away from the DSL-AC68U though.. Ask your VPN provider for a .ovpn file and import that into your chosen router and Bobs yer Uncle  ;D

Er, what? IKEv2/IPsec is the industry standard for commercial/business/enterprise VPNs.

Very true, but its highly unlikely the Zyxel supports IKEv2.
