Post by: Pauljbl on August 14, 2019, 11:06:07 PM
Hi
What is the recommended modified zyxel firmware to use that is safe to use
Is the x6 version best to use

Which one do you use Johnson?

I use a version that enables 1508 MTU and allows more than 1 telnet session.

I saw no benefit using a newer version DSL driver (adsl_phy.bin).
I don't think anyone else noticed an improvement either.

Some of the tweaks/bug fixes within the adsl_phy.bin require a newer Broadcom kernel which we can't update.

For stability I keep to the adsl_phy.bin released by Zyxel.

Johnson found the newer dsl driver fixed a specific Vectoring issue on his line.

If you have Vectoring on your line (only specific BDUK funded Huawei cabinets have Vectoring) then you might want to try x1 or x6.
If you don't have Vectoring I recommend sticking with the supplied adsl_phy.bin.

Of course you are free to install whatever you like.

I recommend restricting the number of resyncs you do while testing various modems/firmware as DLM can easily cap your line for this and can take a long time to remove any cap.

Do all the firmwares have a stats server?

What's the command to see the stats?

No, that was a feature Johnson installed for a member who had no ability to run DslStats.

The stats server is served up in a browser window, no commands.

If you have the ability to run DslStats then that provides much more detailed stats.
