Title: New home router
Post by: niemand on August 03, 2019, 04:33:41 PM
Might get one of these (https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/release-independent/junos/topics/concept/mx10008-hw-overview.html) in - anyone want one?

Never know when 192 x 100Gb ports at line rate might come in handy.

Very impressive, but a little bit over the top for me, I'm afraid. :)

I am wondering what the power consumption will be, when "fully loaded".  :-\

It requires 3 x PSUs to run - the DC variety are 2.5kW, the AC 2.7kW.

The chassis would seem to require between 5 and 7.5kW DC or 5.4-8.1kW AC fully loaded.

Bargain.

Now I know why your new build home has been delayed somewhat . . . It's the need to ensure that incoming mains supply will support that extra load.  :-X  ;)

Doesn’t seem to specify the colour, and the diagrams are all black & white, are they hiding something?   It’ll never sell to the mass market, unless it’s available in the right colour schemes.

That and the 96mm duct with the 432 fibre count ribbon cable.

Might have to make do with a COF-200 yet.

Ah, I forgot about that.  ::)

(So there's no planning problem with the lattice tower and LOS microwave link, for backup?)

No - just compensation for all the birds that'll be cooked if they get too close.

Actually, it looks ok.   The cupboard in the second vid looks a similar magnolia to my lounge, and the two tones of dark silver/aluminium looks good inside it.    Maybe I’ll see if I can clear some space next to the TV.

There are four 13A socket outlets within reach too, all on the same ring, protected by a 32A circuit breaker.   That’s just over 7.5kW available so might be doable, but I’d better remember to plug the kettle into the upstairs ring for brewing my tea (or only drink beer).
