Title: Worse ever CRC and ES
Post by: adslmax on May 21, 2019, 12:40:30 AM
This evening was terrible something is going on with massive CRC and ES. Feared it will put DLM act against my line later today.

FEC errors per hour: 38696105 Down, 2023 Up
HEC errors per hour: 0 Down, 0 Up
ES per hour: 373 Down, 0 Up
SES per hour: 86.7 Down, 0 Up

20 May 2019
CRC errors per hour: 1621 Down, 2.62 Up
FEC errors per hour: 17425540 Down, 539 Up

You missed off the Total ES in the day which is the important error figure & used to calculate the MTBE for DLM.

At a very rough guess from what I can see the figure for the day was <900 so if the line was up all day then you should be fine.

Here is ES and CRC in the day below Kitz

btw I notice the max sync figure is wavering around a fair bit.   That perhaps indicates your SNRM is also doing similar.

It's not unknown for SNRm to start spiking if there has been a remote reboot...  the recommended course of action is to perform a power down of your own modem to clear it.

The ES has suddenly stopped after 3am all gone now. And SNR stay steady at 5.0dB. I will powered down modem for 30 minutes and back on later as I am out at present.

If it has calmed down itself, then all is good :)

Zen Internet was good advise me told me g.fast would be pointless as your property are far from the cabinet for max speed 330/50. Only increase by an extra 80Meg but the upload will slightly less than your FTTC 20Meg. They advised me to stay at FTTC as it not worth the price for g.fast in their view. I have to agree. Happy to stay with FTTC for now.

Thing is, a certain number of errors could be slowing you down anyway because of TCP retransmissions - for all I know. I haven’t done the arithmetic. But resynching the modems to reduce the rate might give back more TCP true good throughput than the underlying rate loss. Is that sensible?

I did an experiment myself which gave a positive result and involved extremely careful measurements.

Sadly DLM has changed my line this morning at 1:30am

Dropping from 79.9Mbps to 78.9Mbps (could have been lots worse but only 1Mbps drop)

IP Profile for your line is - 72.6 Mbps from 77.35 Mbps (blame on bearer 0 INPRein: 1.00)  :(

DLM has changed my line this morning at 2:13am

Increase from 78.9Mbps to 79.0Mbps

IP Profile for your line is - 76.45 Mbps but PN still capped profile on my line at 72.6 Mbps at their end with throughput speed of 68.7Mbps

I have asked PN to match BT IP Profile as PN Profile haven't updated incorrect. I am bit annoyed as PN has removed hi-speed page to check my ip profile (current line speed)

Please don't get G.fast because the Seamless Rate Adaptation will lead to posts each time the sync changes - which will be constantly unless you are sync'd at max rate for the product with no issues. :P

Joking aside, at least INPRein is no longer present on Bearer 0. :)

If I can recall correctly, the PN profile was never quick to update. But it has been a while.

Edit: Fixed typo.

PN are getting worse this evening very poor download speed as Netflix keep buffering all the times, never like that before.

Oh how I wish I had speeds like that, but we manage Netflix and other services on a 20/2 VDSL2 circuit.

I would be very happy if it was me 😄😄😄😄
