Have a look at http://dslstats.me.uk/alerts.html

This hasn't quite caught up with the latest changes, but it should cover what you need.

You could check with your email provider to see if there are other options for the choice of port number. There was a long discussion about this several months ago, which resulted in the present arrangement. Some combinations of port and encryption type are disallowed, and DSLstats greys out the disallowed options. My memory being what it is, I don't recall the details now.

Gmail accounts work fine if using the correct settings. I have 2 pi3's configured with 1 gmail account. All good for alerts.

Sorry, but I've never got to grips with what happens when the PC goes to sleep. That message comes from Windows, and the data corruption warning is just a standard part of the error message. It's extremely unlikely that any data will actually be affected, and pressing OK will quite possibly allow DSLstats to carry on working normally.

Hi

That message is telling you you are using standard non encrypted email

Try changing port used to 465 or 587, using SSL/TLS or google correct TLS port to use for gmail

Sorry we do not use gmail

Many thanks

John

You need to login to google and change the security settings so less secure apps can obtain permission to use services etc.

"account, security, scroll down to the bottom and turn off less secure app access", should cure it

Once done my pi3's are set to

smtp.gmail.com
465
SSL

You shouldn't need to do the above. For GMail, use port 587 with StartTLS. This works fine in DSLstats (I just checked again).

Hi

Your credentials look wrong

email from needs to be a full email address. Should match your gmail email address as that is the sending email

Also, as roseway confirmed, you need port 587 with StartTLS

First I would send to your gmail address and if works, then try your live email address, or set dslstats to send using outlook account

Many thanks

John

got it working with outlook

smtp-mail.outlook.com
port 587/TLS

gmail would not work

Iam using DSL-stats 6.5, is it worth upgrading to the ALPHA/BETA versions..?

I wouldn't advise doing this and it's absolutely unnecessary for DslStats.

It used to be needed but since Eric added StartTLS I've disabled this insecure setting on gmail and DslStats works perfect.

I'd recommend setting a 3rd party password for DslStats (through Google) before lowering security across the board if you cannot get it to work.
