Post by: Floydoid on June 13, 2008, 09:39:38 AM
Are you going to make the pledge and help set a new world record by downloading Firefox 3 next tuesday?

Next Tuesday, when several have downloaded Firefox v3 can one of you start a new thread named 'Firefox 3 Addon Compatibility' or similar with comments and experiences.
I ask because I tried the beta version earlier and the Google toolbar was not compatible with it. Nor would the FoxMarks bookmark synchroniser work with it.
Would be of help if a list of things that don't work was compiled so that potential downloaders would know if their Addons will work or not.
Thanks in advance.

I downloaded Firefox 3 this morning on two machines - one Vista and one XP Home Edition.  The downloads went very smoothly and both machines are working fine.  The new Firefox fairly zips along. I'm quite impressed by it so far.

I also updated my Opera browser to version 9.5 last week but I'm not sure how much I like it.  I'm certainly preferring Firefox at present.

I've tried, I've really tried to like FF3, but I don't. In its Linux version it's much slower and less responsive than FF2. It just doesn't feel nice to use. Thinking I might be kidding myself I've gone back to FF2, and immediately browsing feels good again. Apart from this, there are some cosmetic aspects to FF3 which I don't like. I'm going to stick with FF2 as long as I can, and I'll probably have another look at alternatives such as Opera.
