Title: Question about repeated metallic path problems
Post by: Weaver on December 11, 2018, 11:04:00 AM
Say a user is getting repeated problems with copper lines that end up requiring fixes. And say the customer has a number of ‘adjacent’ lines that over which the total fault count is taken and then divided by n lines for normalisation. If that customer is getting a lot of faults or a lot of downtime, is there anything a CP (ie ISP) can do to get BTW or OR to improve things for the future?

Or even a physical review / escalation procedure?

I just wondered what does happen if things go really bad in a particular area and poor kit results in poor service, downtime and a lot of costly call outs.

I am not saying I am there yet, luckily. But many years ago it was like that before BT buried the bundle coming down the hill towards the cattle grid by my house. This was before DSL. The constant faults were due to physical damage caused by vehicles running over the cable constantly. It was just lying on the roadside right where vehicles pulled off the road to park at the township fank.
