Been keeping eye on DSL Checker for G Fast on my cabinet, & noticed that 'Last Test Date' my line is apparantly being tested fortnightly, sometimes weekly 15/10/18, now 25/10/18 is this normal or a glitch with DSL Checker?
Checked other phone numbers on same cabinet & most haven't been tested for over a year, some even back to 2016.
-
That's odd, same for my AAISP line too - test date changes. No idea why.
-
Perhaps a coincidence but mine was last tested when I negotiated a new contract. Will be interested to see if this means it will now be tested more regularly. I'll have to dig out some old screenshots I have taken as I haven't noticed this date changing in the past.
-
Why the weekly line tests.
Wonder whether it has anything to do with Roadworks.org,back in June, there was a job to lay new cable along High Street, & later clear blockage in duct, but still don't think cable has been laid yet.
-
My line test date has changed to 2nd November no new contract and no additions
-
Well it's back again.
Been thinking, prehap they are finally going to sort naff cable arrangement on bridge, which got severed yet again, a few months ago.
-
Is there any mileage in the fact that the last test date may be linked to running the checker either by OR, the SP or the EU.
I've never noticed that date before, but that may probably be due to aside from a a test run a few days ago, I'd not run a test on mine for a while.
I wonder if it's any co-incidence that the date on mine ties up to the date when I performed that most recent check. I didn't notice the other day if there was a date or not as I only recorded this data (https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,22664.msg386080.html#msg386080) :/
However, It may go some way to explain this?

Have had a lot of problems with this line over the years, low speeds, multiple drop connections in a day, dead line(happen once when engineer was here, had him stumped).
Had a D side swap,& finally a lift & shift, moving line from front pole to rear pole, which shorted distance to cab. :)
Still had reliability & speed issues due cable in High Street being alumimum,so moved to a spare pair has got speed up nicely, but still hoping BTOR will finally sort the cable through wall issue,as both cables got severed again with a hedge trimmer a few months ago, line down all day,old engineer who sorted it was brilliant.
They also replaced line up lane,as it was faulty & no spare pairs,I even offered to dig trench in verge for a underground cable, but they couldn't lay cable in trench, as it wasn't dug by their contractor , had OR out last week trimming branches,as they were badly bowing the cables in several places.

Just had a look at DSL Checker & test date has changed again to 9th November last Friday. :hmm:
-
DSL Checker also updated new layout when enter telephone number with observed speeds for VDSL (and maybe G.FAST as I don't have it) see screenshot of my line below:
-
I just went and had a look - currently gives a nice 404 :)
-
Accessing it via https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/adsl.htm works.
-
Where is it getting that from and what is the significance of the observed date?
I've never seen mine sync at exactly 80000 - it is almost always 79999 or 79998.
-
VDSL possible speed attainable,so hopefully G fast figures won't be too shabby, & most likely a tad higher. :)
But,cab still not live. >:(
-
Accessing it via https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/adsl.htm (https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/adsl.htm) works.
That has https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/pls/adsl (https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/pls/adsl) in an iframe which also works directly for me.
-
I do find it so strange with this observed speeds for VDSL on my line because I am still sync at 80000Kbps and 19999Kbps for 43 days but the observed speed say 78040/20000 but where does 78040 coming from?

It gives you the date you had that sync speed.
I'm sure if I look back through your posts you would have synced at (or close to) 78040 on or around 24/8/18
edit: 78044 on 23/8/18, so it rounds the figure up/down a little.

Works for me too, shows 67040 for my AAISP line - to be expected.
-
BTw has changed and adjusted on the observed speed below:
Before:
Observed Speeds
VDSL
Max Observed Downstream Speed (Mbps) 78040
Max Upstream Observed Speed (Mbps) 20000
Observed Date 2018-08-24
Now:
Observed Speeds
VDSL
Max Observed Downstream Speed (Mbps) 78.04
Max Upstream Observed Speed (Mbps) 20
Observed Date 2018-08-24
I was wonder why they still using old Observed Date - 2018-08-24 that very poor date range (should be day/month/year) as we are not in USA!
-
They are using the ISO 8601 standard, which is an international worldwide standard for all countries to use.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601
The purpose of this standard is to provide an unambiguous and well-defined method of representing dates and times, so as to avoid misinterpretation of numeric representations of dates and times, particularly when data are transferred between countries with different conventions for writing numeric dates and times.
While the date shown on the BT BROADBAND AVAILABILITY CHECKER should only be relevant to the United Kingdom (and Northern Ireland?), I guess the date format for the ISO 8601 standard was preferred for some reason.
-
Someone at web design for BTw should be sacked because very poor overall.
-
It's written to be informative for service providers, not for end users to be checking on a daily basis so no need for it to be pretty. Functional rather than fantastic.
-
I hope it's not too digressive, but the info in CodeLook is expanded too. I have been looking at Beckenham where a relative abides. Hope the link works. i found it interesting.

-
Yes it does. Thanks.
However I'm scratching my head over this:
30% area up to 30MB, 70% area less than 30MB
100% area up to 300MB
Is someone getting bits and bytes confused?
There is also an awful lot of 100% area up to 300MB so I'm assuming most of the area has either FTTP or G.fast. :-\
-
Broadband speed is collated by Ofcom and includes Virgin Media cable, KCOM and alternate fibre suppliers.
I assume most of the up to what should be 300Mb is from Virgin Media cable.
-
@ejs Beckenham has VM, TT business (both cable), and numerous other suppliers physical and virtual. the list of codes is enormous.
