Title: Twitter notifications broken
Post by: Weaver on October 31, 2018, 05:55:31 AM
I used to get notification (push) events via Twitter on my iPad, sent by my ISP, Andrews and Arnold, but some while back something changed and now I no longer get them. The iPad itself used to pop up a message from Andrews and Arnold to let me know whe one of my DSL links went down or up.

Unfortunately several changes happened all happened around the same time and so I can’t point the finger at one thing. Firstly, I got a new iPad as a replacement for my sickly one. And also I changed from using an iPad app called Twitterific to read Twitter, deleted that app and switched to using Twitter’s own iPad app instead. Somewhere in all this change, something went wrong and I didn’t notice that Twitter notification events were no longer happening until much later.

Has anyone else seen this kind of problem with Twitter events ? Especially on iOS.

I’ve checked every setting I can think of on the iPad, in the Twitter website and the settings related to the Twitter account @aaisp.

I don't get Twitter notifications on my smartphone but I do get SMS text messages when my line drops. I've not tried setting up Twitter.

Have you checked your settings in control login details?

Yes, my clueless setting is ‘always’. I looked at it earlier. In fact, now I come to think of it, the clueless event log shows that AA claims to be sending me a Twitter direct message, but I don’t get it. I could test to see that the message is actually arriving, by looking at traffic captures but it’s quite a pain. I would need to do two, one to see that it is getting as far as the Firebrick, and then, to check if there is a Firewalling problem, I would need to capture one inside the LAN to see if it is getting past the firewall as far as to my iPad. I could do the second part with a function in my ZyXEL WAPs. But setting all that up would be tiresome, and I am inclined to blame the iPad, or Twitter? I’ve gone through all settings that I could find in both Twitter and iPad Settings.

My wife gets AA SMS on her iPhone.

I'll set twitter up on my account and give it a go. Back in a bit...

No DM received and another user on chat has confirmed they are seeing the entry in the log but didn't receive anything via Twitter

I emailed support as well. Just got the same ‘we’re looking into it’ message, not heard anything further as yet.
