Title: Are these line stats from ECI modem correct?
Post by: badfish99 on October 21, 2018, 12:16:36 PM
Hello,

I've just loaded openwrt onto my ECI modem, and I've been experimenting with getting line stats from it. After a bit of guesswork and experimentation I've got the attached data: I'd be grateful if some experts would tell me if it looks right. I'm concerned whether the graphs are actually correct (e.g. have I scaled the data correctly) as well as whether the line is any good.

For what it's worth I'm about a kilometer from an ECI cabinet: I know from experience that the ECI kit has issues, as I was one of the people who originally discovered problems with its IPv6 support, which have now been fixed.

Thanks,
John

The scale on the QLN graph looks wrong unless your quiet line noise is extremely low, the scale on the SNR graph looks wrong.

You can find formulas to convert the values returned within the Lantiq DSL driver source code, they tend be the same as per the ITU-T G.997.1 document.

Ah, I've found the ITU document and applied the scaling to my data. Thanks.
