Title: Sky FTTC - Pfsense setup
Post by: Jon21 on October 11, 2018, 10:35:00 PM
So, got my migration date for moving to Sky. See that Sky use MER/DHCP Option 61. I’m being sent a Sky Q Hub which I won’t be using. Is Wireshark still needed to extract the username and password? Or can I use anything@skydsl|password?

The other thing is IPv6. Are there any particular settings required to set it up?

You can indeed just use some fake data in the DHCP client section.

IPv6 I am guessing will the same as my AAISP - you need to modify the LAN configuration to get the IPv6 prefix from WAN.

I am not sure of the exact Sky settings - I never tried to get IPv6 from Sky over pfSense.

I'd hope AAISP implemented IPV6 better than Sky many years ago.
IPV6 with Sky isn't static, though it doesn't change as frequent as my current BT IPV6 addresses, which is useless.

I'm switching to Plusnet on Monday. Don't think they do IPV6. Most home users don't need IPV6 anyway.

Wireshark not required for Sky any more.

Sky IPV6 should work fine over pfsense. I have ipv6 with Opnsense no probs.

my ipv6 settings on my wan port are

ipv6 type dhcpv6

dhcpv6 config

tick in request ipv6 prefix only
delegation size 56

ticks in directly send solicit and prevent release (you can leave that one off if you wish though)

Thanks dee.jay and j0hn. Did a bit of searching, think these are the most relevant steps for Pfsense:

Edit: Thanks as well skyeci.
