I have put together a spreadsheet that calculates protocol efficiency for ADSL with PPPoEoA or PPPoA or FTTC. You give it the various protocol options and it tells you the efficiency of the protocol derived from the overhead of headers trailers and other bloat so that you can use the figure it comes out with to turn sync rates into actual IP byte rates.
There is also a thing to go further and add in the overheads for IP and even TCP so you can calculate TCP payload bytes per second rates from sync rates.
Needs a bit of updating to have fuller support for all FTTC VDSL2 relevant parameters still.
Would anyone be interested?
