I'm looking to cut down on my parents Sky TV bill (as well as the insurance they are paying for the sky box).
I've been looking at the nowtv app, which seems to be a sky company and gives access to sky channels for a no contract fee. I've heard its about £7.99 per month.
As anyone here used the nowtv app? What is it like? good value for money?

NowTV is Sky, it's just their IPTV method of providing "some" channels (ie not all of them).
depending on the method you view NowTV the maximum you will get is 720P (limited to AppleTV i believe at present).
£7.99 is just for a small limited number of entertainment channels.
i've used it on occasions.
it's ok as long as you don't expect it to be anything more than it is.
is it value for money? that's only something you can decide.
as for paying for insurance on sky box? why would anyone do that? sky will always send someone out for free if you say you'll just cancel due to box not working.
it's foolhardy at best to be paying insurance on any box. at worst you can go to cash convertors and buy a replacement for about £10

One thing which NowTV has which might make it good value for you is a large collection of box sets included in the subscription. I've got a NowTV box connected to my TV, and the box sets are the only reason I keep it.

I've split off the off-topic discussion about IPTV here: https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,22314.0.html

Purchase an Android Box from Amazon for roughly £25. Install apps 'Cartoon HD' and 'Show Box' from 'Google Play'.
All the latest films and every box-set man has ever made .... ;)

Just a note on the above. Whilst Kodi is legal and some of the apps are. Proceed with caution when it comes to some of the add ons. Anything via Google Play should be OK, but don't buy any 'pre-loaded' boxes.

Yes I have. I replaced my Apple TV with a Now Box for a while. I had the Entertainment package and a free trial period of movies. I later cancelled it though and just used all the free channels.
About 10-12 months ago I replaced the Now Box with a Firestick. I'm a member of Amazon Prime so I get access to lots of movies, music and some box sets for free which suits me better so I'm happier with the Firestick.
I watch a lot of streaming TV and can usually always find something thats free... but I suppose if you are an avid TV person with a family who are into box-sets, then it's worthwhile paying a bit extra for premium content.

I'm a member of Google Prime
Is it any good? ;D

NowTV is awesome.
The NowTV app, for both my TVs is absolutely horrendous. Hanging, random error messages, delays, it has it all.
The Netflix app, by comparison, is flawless.
NowTV need to license the Netflix front end and then it'll be tip top :)

You can solve some of the NowTV nonsense by disabling IPv6 btw.
