Title: JD's auto speedtest
Post by: banger on August 23, 2018, 01:46:12 AM
I know it is no longer being written, but my JD Auto speedtest since 9pm last night has stopped detecting my WAN. Looking at the config it says it cant detect the network card on Win 10 Pro. Funny how all of a sudden it has stopped working detecting the WAN and adapter. Any ideas? NIC driver update in the background perhaps?

Well I have tried a Win 10 Network reset but the NIC card has #2 after it. Perhaps this is the problem? I only have one onboard NIC card so why it thinks it is #2 I have no idea. Tried removing it and re-detecting but it comes back as #2. Very strange.

I have the same problem - my last recorded test was 21/8/18.  I can run the Quick Diagnostic tests with no problem;  I don't have the network card issue that Banger reports.  (I have had tests running every 30 mins for some while because of fighting about erratic broadband connection)

Thanks for that, looks like a windows update has changed something. I also can run diagnostic tests but no WAN detected on normal tests.

Good thought, but I've got most recent windows update on 14/08/18, and JDAST was fine until 21/8/18.  PC was running continuously intil 26/8, so not an update that didn't take effect until next reboot.
Mystery!

Just looked at http://www.gmwsoftware.co.uk/current-news.html - the top item is dated 2016_01_12, but turning off the WAN detection hgas done the trick! (Well, I just got a successful recorded test)  Happy testing!

Yes turning off WAN detection did the trick for me as well, good spot.

Huh! Never actually seen this before. Strange piece of software indeed.

It is not too bad, it can highlight congestion when using the graphs.
